Naturopathic Physicians Added to the Network

Vermont Managed Care (VMC) will be adding Naturopathic Physicians to the Fletcher Allen Medical Plan network beginning January 1, 2010. Members may see a participating Naturopathic Physician for covered service with a $10 co-pay. Please visit the provider directory on this site for a listing of participating Naturopathic Physicians.

Prescription Discounts

Beginning on January 1, 2010 members can get a 3-month supply of medication for a 2-month co-pay at Fletcher Allen Pharmacies.

Dental Age Minimum Eliminated

Effective January 1, 2010, the eligibility requirement that dependents be at least 2 years old is being eliminated. Fletcher Allen recognizes the American Dental Association's recommendation that children should receive a comprehensive dental exam by the age of 1.

Plus Plan Mental Health Day/Visit Limits Eliminated

Two changes have been made to the Preferred Plus Plan's Out-of Network benefit schedule. The 30-day out-of-network mental health inpatient stay limit and the out-of-network outpatient 20-visit limit have been eliminated.

New ID cards

New ID cards were issued October 1, 2009 for Fletcher Allen Preferred and Preferred Plus Medical Plan subscribers.

Coinsurance Reduced

There is a change to the Fletcher Allen Preferred and Preferred Plus medical insurance plans. The coinsurance charged for certain Fletcher Allen service dropped from 10% to 5% reducing the amount of coinsurance subscribers pay. Coinsurance is a set percentage of a service's cost that a plan member pays after his or her deductible has been met. The change applies only to services rendered at Fletcher Allen or performed by Fletcher Allen providers and became effective with dates-of-service beginning October 1, 2009. The reduced coinsurance of 5% applies to:

• Diagnostic x-rays and lab work
• Outpatient CT, MRI and Nuclear scans
• Hospital inpatient care
• Outpatient surgery (doctor and hospital fees)
